The Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Walter Barnard Hill Award for Distinguished Achievement in University Public Service and Outreach and for the Walter Barnard Hill Distinguished Public Service Fellow Award.
The Hill Awards honor outstanding public service and outreach work by UGA faculty. A maximum of five Hill Award recipients will each receive a medallion and a framed certificate.
The Hill Fellow Award recognizes sustained, distinguished and superb achievement in university public service and outreach, and contributions to improving the quality of life in Georgia or elsewhere.
Designation as a Hill Fellow is comparable to a distinguished professorship, and only previous Hill Award winners are eligible for appointment as a Hill
Fellow.
In addition to other awards, the appointee will receive a supplementary fund for use in the advancement of his or her program of work.
Nominations are due by Oct. 2. Both awards will be presented at the annual public service and outreach meeting on Feb. 11 at the Georgia Center.
