Athens, Ga. – A fifth candidate has been added to the list of finalists in the search for a new dean of the University of Georgia College of Education.
Arthur M. Horne, who has served as interim dean of the college since Jan. 1, is a candidate for the position. Laura Jolly, chair of the search committee, informed the college faculty that Horne will join four other finalists in the search to succeed Louis Castenell, who stepped down as dean last December.
Horne will meet on June 4 with faculty, staff and students in the college for a series of interviews and presentations.
Horne is a former head of the college’s department of counseling and human development services. After retiring in 2006, he was granted emeritus status and was director of the college’s Educational Policy and Evaluation Center before becoming interim dean.
