UGA’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government is assuming all state agency training and development under an expanded partnership with the State Personnel Administration.
The new arrangement focuses on providing state agencies with instructional opportunities emphasizing performance, integrity, customer service and employee retention, according to Steve Wrigley, director of the Vinson Institute.
“In addition to the leadership development programming already in place, the state training team will offer management, computer and administrative support training, and coaching and assessment services,” he said.
The Vinson Institute will deliver SPA’s existing open enrollment classes through December. A new schedule of classes for January through June 2009 will be announced later this month.
A new scholarship program for state employees sponsored by SPA will reduce pricing for many of the courses by as much as 50 percent.
