The Division of Academic Enhancement invites applications for the position of assistant director.

The Division of Academic Enhancement is the primary provider of academic support on campus, offering a wide range of services, including elective and introductory courses, a learning center, a peer tutoring program, residential satellite offices and the Freshman College Summer Experience. Requirements for the assistant director position include an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in higher education-in administration, in one of the academic areas represented in the division (counseling, English, mathematics, or reading/studying), or in a related field. Knowledge of program evaluation and statistical packages is necessary. Experience teaching in or administering an academic assistance or learning support program is desirable. Grant writing experience is helpful. This 12-month, non-tenure track position is eclectic in nature and requires someone who is flexible and works well with others.

Salary is commensurate with experience. The desirable starting date is May 1.

The assistant director’s duties include assisting the director with the day-to-day operation of the division, including general operational procedures and overseeing compliance with regents, university, and division policies; coordinating the four academic areas represented in the division; managing four federally funded TRIO programs; assisting with the Freshman College Summer Experience; representing the division on committees; and writing reports. The assistant director creates and maintains division databases and student records, including a system that monitors student progress, and evaluates the program and instruction.
