The College of Environment and Design’s Cultural Landscape Lab will host a lecture by UGA alumna Nancy Aten on Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. in Room 148 of the Miller Learning Center. The lecture will be followed by a reception, open to the public, at Founders House, 325 S. Lumpkin St.
Aten, who earned a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the environment and design college in 2003, has served as the principal for the Milwaukee-based landscape architecture firm, Landscapes of Place LLC, since graduating from UGA. An advocate for a strong design role in restoration, she is known best for designing environmentally restorative landscapes and creating ecologically-focused visual communications. Aten also teaches courses on environmental literacy and plant communities. And in her spare time, Aten creates award-winning monotype prints and watercolors that convey the central themes of nature and culture.
