Students at Louisiana State University may soon find themselves academically compelled to go to class, thanks to a resolution passed by the institution’s Faculty Senate allowing professors the option of factoring class attendance into students’ grades, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
The effort, which allows but does not require grading for attendance, is a way to help improve graduation and retention rates. The policy, which is similar to a consideration before administrators at California State University, will go into effect in the fall, the Chronicle reported.
