Mary Alice Smith, an associate professor of environmental health science in the College of Public Health, has been elected secretary of the Teratology Society. In addition to serving a three-year term, she also will work on the society’s leadership council and will be a liaison to several society committees. The Teratology Society is an international organization currently in its 50th year of promoting research on birth defects and providing education and training on the causes, treatment and prevention of birth defects.
