Athens, Ga. – On Sunday, Nov. 23, filming of a public safety video will occur on campus in the quad area in front of the Main Library, inside Peabody Hall and on several floors of the Journalism Building. The filming will begin around 12 p.m. near the Main Library and will end prior to 6 p.m.
The video project will involve police, fire, emergency medical services units and student actors who will simulate their responses to an active shooter on campus.
For short portions of the afternoon, areas around the filming locations will be temporarily closed and there will be personnel in emergency vests to direct pedestrian traffic. No campus roadways will be closed as a result of the filming.
The goal of the University System of Georgia sponsored video project is to produce an educational tool that will provide the faculty, staff and students associated with all USG institutions guidance on how to respond during an active shooter incident.
For assistance with issues related to the video project on the day of the event, call the UGA Police at 706-542-2200.
