New fitness programs

The Fitness Center is accepting new applications for participation in its adult fitness and cardiac rehabilitation programs. The adult fitness program is designed to develop flexibility, muscle strength and endurance, and cardiovascular endurance. The cardiac rehabilitation program is a series of exercise sessions for people with coronary heart disease, prior heart surgery or revascularization, or those at risk for developing coronary heart disease.  The program builds endurance, strength, flexibility, and can assist in preventing the progression of heart disease.

Each week the Fitness Center offers three one-hour cardiac rehabilitation exercise sessions (at 9:30 a.m. and 2:45 and 4 p.m.) and three one-hour adult fitness exercise sessions (at 6:45 a.m., noon and 5:15 p.m.) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Room 101E of the Ramsey Student Center.

The yearlong program costs $30 per month for the adult fitness program and $35 per month for the cardiac rehabilitation program. There is an additional initial entrance and fitness evaluation fee of $95. A physician’s referral is required prior to initial testing and stress test evaluation. Those interested in joining the program or receiving more information should contact Jacquee Rosumny at jrosumny@uga.edu or (706) 542-4230.
