The department of physics and astronomy will host its monthly observatory open house and star gazing March 25 at 9 p.m. on the fourth floor of the physics building.
The university’s 24-inch telescope and several smaller telescopes will be trained on the planet Saturn, just above the eastern horizon; the Orion Nebula, a star forming region above the western horizon; and other astronomical sights. If the sky is very clear, visitors may be able to see the Andromeda galaxy, the nearest large spiral galaxy similar to the galaxy in which the Earth is located.
Free parking is available immediately to the west and south of the physics building. More information is available online at www.physast.uga.edu.
