Poverty issues forum

UGA faculty and staff who are teaching or conducting research and outreach about alleviating poverty will be able to network with UGA colleagues who share their interests at the first OneAthens@UGA Symposium on April 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel. Launched this semester, OneAthens@UGA is the new network of UGA faculty, staff and students promoting collaborative interactions to address poverty.

Topics to be discussed include how to get grants to fund poverty-related research; news about research projects completed or under way; how to teach about poverty (e.g. service-learning); setting standards/procedures for student outreach and volunteer opportunities; education and workforce development initiatives; health care initiatives; and a Partners for a Prosperous Athens/OneAthens update. To RSVP for the free symposium or for more information, e-mail OneAthens@fanning.uga.edu.
