On Sept. 30, the University of Georgia hosted a reception at Tate Grand Hall to thank members of its Presidents Club. Established in 1973, the Presidents Club is a group of highly engaged donors who support the University’s academic mission with substantial, yearly donations.
UGA relies on the generosity of donors to carry out its vital missions of teaching, research and service at the highest levels. Members of the Presidents Club are among the university’s strongest supporters. At the event, President Jere W. Morehead expressed his gratitude to attendees and emphasized the transformative impact of their generosity on the university.
“Driven by your loyalty, your generosity, and your love of the University of Georgia, we are expanding the boundaries of what is possible at America’s first state-chartered university,” said Morehead. “Thank you for all that you do to support this beloved university as members of the Presidents Club.”
Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Kelly Kerner also spoke and provided attendees with a preview of the university’s comprehensive capital campaign, which will be launched publicly this November.
“We have been laying the groundwork for this campaign for years, and it is clear that the UGA community is more determined than ever to meet the high bar we have set,” Kerner said. “Every contribution made during this campaign will make a positive difference, and that difference will reverberate across communities, both near and far, for years to come.”
Members of the Heritage Society also attended the event as guests of honor. The Heritage Society includes alumni and friends who have made a deferred commitment to benefit the university. Student ambassadors mingled with attendees and shared how their educational experiences have been enhanced by support from private donations.
In fiscal year 2016, members of the Presidents Club and Heritage Society helped the university achieve its best fundraising year in history. Their gifts will make a significant and lasting impact, on the lives of UGA students, faculty and staff, as well as the many communities they serve all across Georgia and beyond.
