A University of Central Arkansas professor will no longer be teaching after throwing a marker at a student in January, according to the Associated Press.
A police report indicated that the professor threw a marker at a student he claimed was disruptive, while the student said he was taking notes quietly when the incident occurred.
The professor was placed on administrative leave and will no longer be in the classroom, said the university’s president. Because of the professor’s expertise in his field, however, he will remain at the university as a researcher for a year and then retire.
