Proposals sought for poverty, economy grants

The deadline to apply for grants for projects or research dealing with the state’s poverty and economy is Sept. 29. A pre-application workshop is set for 2-4 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Training Room of the Fanning Building.

Although no limit is set for individual grant awards, it is expected that four to six grants of $15,000-$30,000 of the $100,000 total will be awarded.

All UGA faculty members who are interested or engaged in research related to analyzing persistent poverty are eligible to apply. Applications that reflect collaboration across academic and service units are highly encouraged. In addition, research that builds on understanding the public policy barriers that inhibit or limit an individual’s ability to participate fully in the economy and build personal wealth are of particular interest.

Guidelines, deadlines and other pertinent information related to the Poverty and the Economy Research Grants Program can be found online at poverty.uga.edu/. For more information, contact Matt Bishop at mlbishop@uga.edu.
