The Atlanta Area Council of Boy Scouts of America selected UGA student athletes Kellie Middleton and Natalie Frazier as Peach of an Athlete Role Models. This year’s 10-member class, consisting of five women and five men, was chosen based on outstanding achievements in and out of their sport and best exemplifying the qualities of a great role model.
Middleton, an All-America softball player and graduate student in public health, has been named the top female honoree of the 2007 Peach of An Athlete Class. After graduating from Notre Dame in January 2006, Middleton enrolled in graduate school at UGA and served as captain of the softball team. A native of Norcross, she earned First Team All-America honors last year with a team-high .409 batting average plus had 22 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 40 RBI and 39 stolen bases. Frazier, who hails from Riverdale, is a Presidential Scholar in accounting and an All-Southeastern Conference tennis player. She posted a team-best 27-12 singles record in 2006 and a final national ranking of 28.
