The Savannah Coastal Refuges, part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, honored its 2005 volunteers at an awards luncheon in September. Among the honorees were UGA marine science educators who serve as volunteer staff and provide much of the environmental education effort for Wassaw Island National Wildlife Refuge. The honorees were: Mary Sweeney-Reeves, marine science educator; Bob Williams, public service associate; Anne Frick, public service assistant; Fran Lapolla, marine science educator; and John Crawford, public service representative.
