Scherm and Holland, Southern Region Small Fruit Consortium

Harald Scherm, a professor of plant pathology and assistant dean for research in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and his graduate student Renee Holland have received $5,000 from the Southern Region Small Fruit Consortium to determine the extent to which Southern Highbush Blueberry plants in Georgia are colonized by Xylella fastidiosa, a xylem-inhabiting bacterium that causes leaf scorch and plant death.
