Athens, Ga. – A search committee has been formed to recommend candidates for the position of senior vice president for external affairs at the University of Georgia.
The committee will seek a permanent successor to Steve W. Wrigley, who held the position from 2002 until January of this year when he became vice president for government relations and director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Tom S. Landrum, former chief of staff to UGA President Michael F. Adams, has served as interim senior vice president for external affairs since Jan. 1.
Tim Burgess, senior vice president for finance and administration, is serving as chair of the committee, which includes student, faculty, staff and alumni representation. The search firm of Witt/Kieffer will assist the committee.
Burgess said the committee plans to submit a list of finalists to UGA President Michael F. Adams by the end of this calendar year.
In addition to Burgess, committee members are Katie Bowers, president of the Student Government Association; Alan Darvill, Regents Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, and plant biology, and director of the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center; Andrew M. “Jack” Head, a trustee of the UGA Arch Foundation; Cynthia Hoke, director of the UGA News Service;
Keith Oelke, executive director of gift and estate planning; Shannon Scott, president of Staff Council and assistant editor in the Office of Continuing Legal Education; John P. Spalding, past chair of the UGA Arch Foundation; and William K. Vencill, professor of crop and soil sciences and chair of the University Council Executive Committee.
