UGA ranks second all-time among all Southeastern Conference schools with 110 Academic All-Americans, as of July 2011. The University of Florida ranks first with 118.
UGA is ninth among all Division I schools and ranks 14th among all universities. The University of Tennessee, which tied for 17th, is the only other SEC school ranked among the top 20. The University of Alabama is tied for 22nd.
The Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America began this program in the 1950s, and since then, has recognized thousands of student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these Capital One Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
