Senior Exit dance performance to be held Nov. 9-11

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Franklin College of Arts and Sciences department of dance presents the 2011 Young Choreographers Series Senior Exit Concert, Nov. 9 – 11 at 8 p.m. in the new dance theater in the Dance Building on Sanford Drive.

Five seniors will premier choreographic works prepared through the fall semester, which will be applied towards completion of their bachelor of arts or bachelor of fine arts degrees in dance. Katie Wesche will present a piece exploring the art of chance; a work by Rebecca Pouge presents a quirky and comical take on four bridesmaids; and a piece by Anna Bracewell develops movement and relationships inspired by the influence of soulful bluegrass and folk music. Chrystola Oseni and Mallory Keeble also will perform original works.
The show is a culmination of the experiences each senior has had in the department of dance and will reveal their variations in movement content and composition. “I’ve really enjoyed collaborating with my fellow seniors as we all created our different works,” said B.F.A. candidate Oseni.

In addition to creating, some seniors will perform in their peers’ works for the concert. “We can’t wait to share with the community what we have created, which will be something that reflects a culmination of four years of study and our dance-making abilities,” said B.F.A. candidate Bracewell. “It’s rewarding as a group to bring together our own creative work, and we feel that we have put together a dynamic and entertaining show.”

General admission tickets are $8 for students and senior citizens and $12 for adults and may be charged by phone at 706/542-8579 or purchased with cash, personal check, Bulldog Bucks or major credit card at the Tate Student Center Ticket Counter, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets also will be available at the door for cash only, beginning at 7 p.m. before each performance. Parking is available in lots surrounding the building or across the street in the South Campus Parking Deck, which is adjacent to the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
