Sista, Speak!, a book by associate professor of English Sonja Lanehart, received an honorable mention in the 2003 Myers Outstanding Book Award competition sponsored by the Gustavus Myers Center for the Study of Bigotry and Human Rights in North America.
The selection committee noted their appreciation for the book’s “creative craftsmanship in analysis of the dynamics of language oppression and their feeling that it will help many form better ways of interacting as members of complex and diverse societies.”
