State Botanical Garden to hold inaugural Conservation Lecture on March 11

The State Botanical Garden will hold its inaugural Conservation Lecture on March 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Visitor Center and Conservatory Gardenside Room. Tickets are $5; reservations are recommended.

Authors Linda and James Hunt will share the podium to deliver the lecture. Linda Hunt is the author of Bold Spirit, an account of Helga Estby and her teenaged daughter, Clara, who set off from eastern Washington to walk across the U.S. in 1896 in an attempt to win a $10,000 wager and save her family’s farm. James Hunt recently published Restless Fires: Young John Muir’s Thousand-Mile Walk to the Gulf in 1867-68. Their lecture
will take attendees on a vicarious walk across 19th-century North America.

The lecture, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be preceded by a reception that starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to make a reservation, call 706-542-9353 or visit www.botgarden.uga.edu.
