Nicole Lazar, a professor in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences’ statistics department, was named a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
To be recognized as a 2014 ASA Fellow, honorees must have made outstanding professional contributions to and have exhibited leadership in the field of statistical science. Lazar was honored for foundational statistical contributions to the area of empirical likelihood; for the development of new statistical methods for the analysis of functional resonance imaging data; and for developing, reforming and enhancing statistical education.
Lazar was awarded a certificate Aug. 5 at a ceremony during the annual Joint Statistical Meetings in Boston, Massachusetts.
