Summer 2020 issue of The Georgia Review now available

The Summer 2020 issue of The Georgia Review is now available.

The latest issue of The Georgia Review, Summer 2020, is now available for purchase.

The issue features new writing from Garrett Hongo, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Laura van den Berg, A.E. Stallings and more, in addition to original translations of poetic works by Hisham Bustani and Shuzo Takiguchi. Special art features include three black-and-white illustrated narratives on the theme “Shelter in Place,” by Lindsey Bailey, Kaytea Petro and Bishakh Som, addressing in different ways their respective months of April under quarantine, and a full-color portfolio of paintings by Doron Langberg, who is interviewed by Georgia Review Editor Gerald Maa.

With 200 pages of original poetry, fiction, essays, book reviews and art, the issue also presents an essay-review of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman from film scholar Jerome Christensen, exploring the film, source material and Scorsese’s legacy of Italian-American gangster movies; Greg Wrenn’s “Paddle,” a memoir piece that traces family trauma against the fragile ecosystem of Indonesia’s islands; new short fiction from Ben Segal and Don Lee; and new poems from Brooks Haxton, Jeevan Anthony Narney, Alan Pelaez Lopez and more.

On Nov. 17, Laura van den Berg will join 2019 Loraine Williams Poetry Prize winner Rosalie Moffett for a reading at the Georgia Museum of Art. Van den Berg’s latest collection, I Hold a Wolf by the Ears: Stories, will be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in July. Moffett’s winning poem, selected by judge Stephen Dunn, appears in the Spring 2020 issue of The Georgia Review.
