Tate Student Center Theatre announces first half of spring movie schedule

Athens, Ga. – The University Union Student Programming Board at the University of Georgia has announced the spring movie schedule for the Tate Student Center Theatre through March 2.

Dates, titles and times are as follows:

Thursday, Jan. 16, “Super” (2010), 8 p.m.
Fri-Sun, Jan. 17-19, “Captain Phillips” (2013), 3, 6 and 9 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 23, “Blue Velvet” (1986), 8 p.m.
Friday-Sunday, Jan. 24-26, “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” (2013), 3, 6 and 9 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 30, Campus MovieFest Finale, 8 p.m.
Friday-Sunday, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975), 3, 6 and 9 p.m. (9 p.m. shows will include live on-stage performances)
Thursday, Feb. 6, “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls*” (1970), 8 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 7, “Life Itself*” (2014), 8 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 8, “Citizen Kane*” (1941), 6 and 9 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 9, “La Dolce Vita*” (1960), 3, 6 and 9 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 13, “When Harry Met Sally” (1989), 8 p.m.
Friday-Sunday, Feb. 14-16, “The Princess Bride” (1987), 3, 6 and 9 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 20, “Remember the Titans” (2000), 8 p.m.
Friday-Sunday, Feb. 21-23, “12 Years a Slave” (2013), 3, 6 and 9 p.m.

*Union will celebrate Roger Ebert Weekend at UGA Feb. 6-9 with showings of three of the late critic’s favorite films and a screening of “Life Itself,” a new documentary based on his 2011 autobiography. Ebert’s wife, Chaz Ebert, will be on hand to introduce the film and will participate in a question and answer session afterward. Her appearance is co-sponsored by the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the department of theatre and film studies. The event is free for students.

Admission to all other films is $2, $1 for students with valid UGACards who pay activity fees on the Athens campus. Admission to the nightly Rocky Horror Picture Show live performances at 9 p.m. is $3, $1 for students.

The Campus MovieFest Finale on Jan. 30 is free for students.

Films are chosen by students who serve on the executive board of the Cinematic Arts Division of University Union.

The remainder of the spring schedule will be announced in mid February.
