In her first year of eligibility, former UGA basketball player Teresa Edwards has been elected for induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
The most decorated U.S. Olympic basketball player ever, Edwards played her final season in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx in 2004, ending a career that spanned more than two decades.
Edwards was a two-time consensus first-team All-American at UGA, and led the team to a combined 116-17 record, three SEC championships and two Final Four appearances from 1982-86.
Edwards is the only five-time Olympic basketball player in the U.S. and one of only three five-time Olympic basketball players (male or female) in the world. She is also one of only three U.S. Olympians to win gold in four different Olympic Games, joining former teammate Lisa Leslie and sprinter Carl Lewis.
