UGA Athletic Association board approves addition of indoor facility

The board of directors for the UGA Athletic Association approved a proposal Aug. 31 for an Indoor Athletic Facility. The proposal is being forwarded to the University System of Georgia Board of Regents for consideration.

If the IAF is approved by the regents, construction would begin after the conclusion of the 2015 football season.

The IAF will be located on the Woodruff Practice Fields and will be connected to Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall. The connection of the indoor facility to the current facility involves the removal of the Nalley Multipurpose Room and the renovation of approximately 6,000 square feet of adjacent space.

The project will cost an estimated $30 million and will be funded through a combination of donor support and athletic department reserves.
