UGA celebrates international cultures with virtual festival

Led by International Student Life, the university will host a Virtual Street Festival from Monday, April 5, to Friday, April 9. The goal of the events is to bring people together digitally to learn about and celebrate the various cultures present within the UGA and Athens communities.

Student leaders and organizations designed activities and programs for students of all ages, including K-12, university students and lifelong learners. Participants can look forward to craft workshops, dance and music performances, cooking demonstrations, country overviews and trivia games, a kid’s corner, recommendations for local international businesses and more.

Content will be available as prerecorded materials hosted on the International Street Festival website or live events streamed through Zoom. Many cultural and identity-based student organizations prepared exciting, engaging and informative activities for the university community so that participants can learn more about many world cultures present right here in Athens.

The International Street Festival (also known as ISF or Street Fest) was created in 1999 and is an annual event that promotes internationalization and cultural awareness within the Athens community. Typically hosted in person in downtown Athens each spring, ISF is student and family friendly and boasts upward of 5,000 attendees annually.
