Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia will join universities around the country in celebrating International Education Week Nov. 11-15.
Events include an international scholar and faculty reception Nov. 11, presentations by returned study abroad participants Nov. 12, a panel presentation on UGA-Brazil partnerships Nov. 13, an international dessert reception Nov. 13, a Faculty Fulbright Talk Nov. 13 and the announcing of the winner of the Office of International Education’s annual photo/video contest Nov. 15. There also will be a conference on Africa and its Diaspora Nov. 13, and a conference on Portuguese linguistics in U.S. Nov. 14-16.
A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, the week aims to draw attention to the importance of international education and exchanges worldwide.
“Whereas the learning, scholarship and outreach associated with international education takes place throughout the year, International Education Week allows us to focus on the cultural bridges between students, scholars and faculty at UGA and those from around the world,” said Kavita Pandit, associate provost for international education. “I encourage the UGA community to participate in one or more of the exciting activities planned for this week.”
