UGA Circle Gallery exhibits “Project Riverway”

Athens, Ga. – The Circle Gallery at the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design will present the third and final installment of student work from “Project Riverway,” a three-part service learning course. “Project Riverway” designs for Apalachicola and Chattahoochee, Fla. will be on display in the Circle Gallery, G14 Caldwell Hall, Aug. 1 through 29 including a reception on Aug. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public. The Circle Gallery is open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“Project Riverway” was a three-year multi-disciplinary service learning course that brought together faculty from the Fanning Institute, the College of Environment and Design and the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The project goal was to develop creative plans and innovative ideas for improving life along the lower Chattahoochee, Flint and Apalachicola rivers.

Students from landscape architecture, historic preservation, journalism, forestry, graphic design and law combined their efforts to address the needs of various communities spanning from Columbus, Ga. to Apalachicola, Fla. Through their designs, the students tried to embrace the culture and history of the individual regions while suggesting solutions for economic improvement.
