Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Education will host a Sentence-Writing Strategy Workshop for teachers of grades fourth through 12th Feb. 7-8 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UGA Gwinnett Campus, 2530 Sever Road in Lawrenceville.
This two-day workshop prepares educators to implement research-based interventions to help students acquire strategies for writing and editing sentences for effective written communication. The Sentence Writing Strategy series includes the Fundamentals and Proficiency levels and is targeted to students who struggle with written expression. In addition to a writing strategy, students can be taught 14 sentence patterns with four types of sentences: simple, compound, complex and compound-complex
Successful completion of this workshop will provide one professional learning unit credit for eligible participants. The registration deadline is Jan. 30. The registration fee is $275 and includes refreshment breaks, two instructor’s manuals, two student lessons books, packets of training materials, as well as supplemental handouts and PowerPoint presentations sent electronically following the workshop to augment instruction.
