UGA department of dance presents “RE:flexion”

Athens, Ga. -The University of Georgia dance senior exit concert, titled “RE:flexion,” will be held Nov. 11-13 at 8 p.m. at the New Dance Theater in the Dance Building on Sanford Drive. The event will premiere choreography prepared by nine students throughout the fall semester to fulfill their final dance degree requirements.

The choreographic works will utilize a variety of media as well as correlations to topical and personal subjects to express ideas and sensations through the dance experience. The program will showcase the broad impact of the students’ achievements, from a movement-based piece that draws on family ancestry and its influences, to a multi-media work inspired by the connection of the water cycle to life processes, to a work evoking notions about deforestation.

“Our graduating students have progressed individually even as their choreographic dexterity as a group has grown stronger,” said dance department head Lisa Fusillo. “The program they have put together is a tribute to these young artists that shows the breadth of the performance-based curriculum at UGA.”

General admission tickets to the performances are $8 for students/seniors and $12 for adults and can be purchased at the Tate Student Center ticket counter. Tickets are available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for purchase with cash, personal check, Bulldog Bucks or major credit card. They are also available at the door before each performance beginning at 7 p.m. Credit cards are not accepted at the door.

The event is sponsored by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the department of dance.
