UGA-Griffin campus to host fall open house for prospective students

Griffin, Ga. – The University of Georgia Griffin campus will host its annual fall open house Oct. 18 at 5 p.m., offering prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the available degree programs.

Breakout sessions for each program will be held in the new state-of-the-art student learning center, which includes classrooms equipped with the latest technology, a student lounge and computer labs. In addition, visitors will be able to tour the food and agricultural science labs, fitness center and library. Refreshments and raffle prizes also will be available as part of the open house event.

UGA-Griffin offers undergraduate degree completion programs in agribusiness, general business, consumer economics, microbiology and special education for students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework. In addition, the campus offers graduate degree programs in agricultural leadership, math education and workforce education.

“The academic programs in Griffin provide our students with low student-to-faculty ratios, which allows personable instruction from world renowned faculty,” said Doris Christopher, assistant vice president for academic affairs. “Many of our students work on campus and perform cutting-edge research in our labs, giving them an advantage of real-world experience and marketability well before graduation. UGA-Griffin boasts a small college atmosphere with the benefits of obtaining a large university degree.”

“Students will be able to speak directly with faculty and program coordinators, as well as obtain information on specific programs and admissions requirements,” said admissions counselor J.L. Wyatt.
