Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia had a large economic impact on Georgia’s economy in 2008 despite challenging economic times, according to a report released today by the University System of Georgia. UGA’s impact on the Athens-area economy was $2.2 billion or 18 percent of the university system’s total $12.1 billion impact on Georgia’s economy.
