Athens, Ga. – Single tickets for the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center’s 2014-2015 season will go on sale beginning Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.

The upcoming season features Grammy-winning soprano Kathleen Battle, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, Japanese drumming sensation Kodo, and Van Cliburn International Piano Competition gold medalist Vadym Kholodenko.

The season opens Sept. 24 with renowned storyteller and award-winning author Garrison Keillor. The host of public radio’s popular “A Prairie Home Companion” returns to the Performing Arts Center following his sold-out performance in 2012.

The 2014-2015 season showcases 37 performances encompassing a broad range of music that includes Celtic fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, male vocal ensemble Chanticleer, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, as well as three appearances by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

On the humorous side, Professor Peter Schickele reaches back across the decades to explore the damp vaults and dusty attics of Leipzig as he celebrate 50 years of P.D.Q. Bach, history’s most justifiably neglected composer. Other offbeat performers such as the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra and Mnozil Brass, whose YouTube videos have been viewed by millions, will combine comedy and music on the Hodgson Hall stage.

For dance aficionados the season will offer “Swan Lake,” performed by the State Ballet Theatre of Russia, and Urban Bush Women, who celebrate 30 years of bringing together diverse audiences through innovative choreography.

The Performing Arts Center celebrates the holiday season with two big events, the State Ballet Theatre of Russia’s “The Nutcracker” and a complete performance of Handel’s “Messiah” with The Knights chamber orchestra and UGA’s Hodgson Singers.

Tickets can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office, online at pac.uga.edu, or by calling 706-542-4400 or toll free at 888-289-8497.
