UGA has received the 2013 Outstanding Real Estate Project Award of Excellence from the Association of University Real Estate Officials.
The award recognizes an institution for an innovative, cost-effective project, that has had a significant positive impact on a university and is a model for others to follow. UGA was recognized for its adaptive reuse of the former Navy School facilities into the Health Sciences Campus.
Founded in 1983, AUREO is an organization of more than 160 universities and colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada with staff dedicated to servicing the real estate needs of their respective higher education institutions. UGA has been a member of AUREO since 2003. J. Dorsey, UGA’s director of real estate and space management, currently serves as AUREO’s vice president for communications. Dorsey accepted the award for UGA at AUREO’s annual conference, held late last year, and hosted by Vanderbilt University.
