Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia will host the annual District I History Day conteston Jan. 29. It will be held at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, located at 1197 S. Lumpkin St., on the UGA campus. Judging will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“History Day provides an exciting way for students throughout the country to study and learn about historical issues, ideas, people and events,” said Denise Logan, department head of Professional and Personal Development. “As students research historical subjects, create entries and compete in district, state and national contests, they acquire useful historical knowledge and perspective and develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.”
History Day is administered by the Georgia Center, a unit of UGA’s Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach. The center provides innovative lifelong learning opportunities through its continuing education programs. For more information, see www.georgiacenter.uga.edu.
