The new entrance and addition to the University of Georgia Health Center (pictured above) opened March 30. Completed ahead of schedule, the new facility features a spacious lobby with enhanced patient registration and business services. The communications and health promotion departments, including the John Fontaine Jr. Center for Alcohol Awareness and Education, has been relocated to an expanded area on the first floor.
A new vision clinic also will be located on the first floor when it opens in August. The vision clinic services will be available to students, faculty and staff.
The second floor is dedicated solely to Counseling and Psychiatric Services to meet the increasing demand for mental health services and to accommodate additional clinician offices, group therapy rooms and testing space.
Now that the new addition is open, renovation on the existing building will begin. Improvements include the relocation of the Allergy/Travel Medicine Clinic to the first floor to improve patient access. The pharmacy will increase in size and include a larger waiting area and retail display space. Additional improvements include the expansion of the Women’s Clinic, the Dental Clinic and the information technology department.
