VA education program for military members expanded for 2010-2011

A Department of Veterans Affairs program that improves access to higher education for U.S. military members, has been expanded from 700 to more than 1,100 colleges and universities for the coming academic year, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The Yellow Ribbon Program, part of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, grants veterans aid up to the full amount of tuition and fees at the most expensive public college in their home states. The federal government matches the amount of financial aid pledged by participating colleges above the base educational benefits for tuition and fees provided in the new GI Bill.
