Weapons policy

UGA has adopted a revised firearms, weapons and explosives policy outlining the possession of weapons on university property and at UGA-sponsored activities.
The policy forbids using, possessing, manufacturing, distributing, maintaining, transporting or receiving firearms (even if inoperable). This includes paintball guns, BB guns, potato guns, air soft guns or projectile devices; any dangerous weapon, machine gun, sawed-off shotgun or rifle, shotgun or silencer; any bacteriological weapon, biological weapon, destructive device, detonator, explosive, incendiary, over-pressure device or poison gas; any explosive materials; or any hoax device (any replicas of a destructive device).

The possession of a valid firearms permit or a valid license to carry a concealed weapon, does not exempt students from the provisions of this policy, but non-students are allowed to possess legal weapons or devices, provided such a device is kept in a locked compartment of a motor vehicle (i.e. the glove compartment) or a locked container or locked firearms rack within a motor vehicle.

Campus police officers are allowed to carry weapons.
