The Obama administration released new guidelines in April to pressure universities to more actively address sexual assaults on campus.
According to government figures, one in five women is sexually assaulted in college.
The White House recommendations encourage colleges to conduct anonymous surveys to gauge the climate of sexual assault on campus, develop a partnership with local rape crisis centers and encourage bystander intervention, in which witnesses are encouraged to take action to protect a potential victim when they see a situation that might lead to sexual assault.
