Writing survey

Writing survey

Del Dunn, vice president for instruction, has distributed a survey to faculty to learn more about how writing is taught at UGA.

The survey seeks information on the kinds of writing and research assigned in classes, the purpose and frequency of writing assignments and the kinds of assistance and guidance provided to students for writing and research. Other questions deal with the importance of various elements in writing, such as factual correctness, creativity, writing style, and form of presentation; how writing assignments are graded; and sources for research papers. The survey also has several open-ended questions including “How do you define ‘good writing'” and “What are the two biggest problems in writing that your students encounter?”

Faculty are asked to complete the survey by Nov. 23.
