WUGA-TV airs Grady Fest in October

Athens, Ga. – WUGA-TV will broadcast ‘Grady Fest 2011′ during the month of October.

Grady Fest is the student film festival of the telecommunications department of the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Originally held in May at the Morton Theater in Athens, Grady Fest was developed several years ago as a means to celebrate the creative video productions of Grady students. It includes short narratives, music videos and other works.

Broadcast highlights of the festival will be aired Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 11:30 p.m., along with encore broadcasts on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m. 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. David Ferguson, evening host of WUGA-FM, will introduce the 30-minute broadcasts.

WUGA-TV and WUGA-FM are operated by UGA in partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting. Funding for WUGA-TV is provided, in part, through sponsorships and underwriting. Future programming for the stations will include documentaries, live performances, sporting events and news/public affairs shows.

“By using the resources of WORLD network, along with local programming focused on life in Northeast Georgia, WUGA-TV and WUGA-FM are growing into a leading, viable communication alternative for our consumers,” said Jimmy Sanders, director of TV and Radio at UGA.
