Glory, glory to ole’ Georgia! The time has finally come for another exciting season of football between the hedges. But long before the Dawgs run onto Dooley Field, teams of dedicated employees work tirelessly to ensure that everything at Sanford Stadium is in tip top shape.
Groundskeepers tend to the turf—a bermudagrass called Tifway 419 that was developed by UGA researchers to be as durable as it is attractive. Workers pressure wash the concrete. Concession stands are stocked. Lights, cameras, scoreboards and speaker systems are tested and retested. And, of course, experts review logistics to make sure the thousands of students, faculty, staff, and friends a greeted with the ideal gameday environment.
This year, guests will also notice a number of new enhancements, including an expansion of the 100-level south sideline concourse, the creation of the 50 Yard Line Club, and a new press box with premium seating. Guests will also find improved entry pathways, more concession stands, more restroom fixtures and additional ADA seating.
Whether this is your first time in Sanford Stadium or you’re a long-time veteran, let’s all take a moment to appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes to make this the best experience in college football.
