Athens, Ga. – Jeanne Fry has been promoted to executive director of the University of Georgia Food Services, effective Aug. 1.
In her new role, she will be responsible for all meal plan operations, campus catering, food service retail operations, the central food storage warehouse, business services, IT, marketing, training and food service facilities management.
Fry has been with UGA Food Services for 13 years, working her way through the positions of food operations manager, assistant director of food services, associate director of food services and director of food services.
Fry played an instrumental role in overseeing four major renovation projects and the construction of a new food service facility at UGA. In addition, she served as the sustainability coordinator for Food Services, implementing several new sustainable practices, including composting which has significantly reduced the amount of waste sent to the landfills. Her efforts promoted education on sustainability and implemented the use of eco-friendly products in food operations around campus. For her efforts, she was awarded UGA’s Go Green Alliance Sustainable Champion of the Year in 2010.
“UGA’s Food Services has been recognized as a national benchmark for university food services, which is a direct result of Jeanne’s role in the division,” said J. Michael Floyd, UGA’s associate vice president for Auxiliary Services. “I know that in her new role as executive director, she will create great opportunities for UGA Food Services and continue to provide award-winning service for our students and guests.”
The University of Georgia Food Services is the largest college food service program in the Southeast. The department also has the distinction of winning 77 national food service awards throughout the years. For more information, see http://foodservice.uga.edu/.
