The silent auction from the 2013 Collectors fundraiser

Athens, Ga. – The Collectors of the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host their biennial fundraiser, Bella Notte, April 5 at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with a silent auction to support acquisitions for the museum. This year, the fundraiser has an Italian theme in its food, décor and auction items.

The auction will include original art donated by Jim Fiscus, Mary Ruth Moore, Michael Lachowski and Chris Wyrick. There also will be a selection of handbags and shoes from Faye Chambers, including a navy Balenciaga tube bag. A case of Brunello di Montalcino wine from Marco Molesini will be part of the auction.

Local businesses donating to the auction include Hotel Indigo, Treehouse Kid and Craft, Community and the Branded Butcher. Maggie Williams of European Floral Design will help sponsor and create the decor the event.

In previous years, the fundraiser has allowed the museum to acquire such important works of art as its portrait of William Harris Crawford, which hangs prominently in the permanent collection galleries.
