UGA’s Cox Center to release annual survey findings of journalism and mass communication graduat

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia’s Cox Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research is poised to release “guardedly optimistic” findings from its Annual Survey of Journalism and Mass Communication Graduates.

Preliminary findings show signs of improvement in the journalism and mass communication job market, according to Lee B. Becker, director of the Cox Center and professor of journalism in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. “The study will report that the job market has improved, both in terms of level of employment and compensation,” Becker said.

Final 2004 figures for employment levels, benefits and salaries will be available on Friday, Aug. 12, at www.grady.edu.edu/annualsurveys/.

The Annual Survey of Journalism and Mass Communication Graduates has operated at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication since September 1997. Becker has directed the national survey since 1988.
