Athens, Ga. - U.S. Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper will deliver the fall 2013 University of Georgia Charter Lecture on Oct. 16 at 11:15 a.m. in the Chapel.

Admission to the lecture is free but will require a ticket due to limited seating. Anyone with a valid UGACard can obtain a ticket at no charge at the third floor cashier's window in the Tate Student Center beginning at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. UGACard holders must be present to pick up tickets.

A limited number of media credentials for the lecture can be obtained by contacting UGA News Service director Cynthia Hoke at 706-542-8083 or cchoke@uga.edu by Oct. 14.

The lecture will be broadcast live on Channel 15 of the university and Charter cable systems, streamed live at http://www.uga.edu and shown at 11:15 a.m. at the Tate Theater.

Clapper was sworn in as the fourth Director of National Intelligence in 2010. In this role, he leads the nation's intelligence community and serves as the principal intelligence adviser to President Barack Obama. His lecture is titled "The Importance of Intelligence Integration."

The Charter Lecture Series was established in 1988 to honor the high ideals expressed in the 1785 charter that created UGA as the first state-chartered university in America.
