Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and the American Pharmacists Association will celebrate American Pharmacists Month with the 10th annual “Dawgtoberfest: Rx for Good Health” on Oct. 17 from noon to 3 p.m. in the Pharmacy South building.
The event, sponsored by Walgreens and the UGA Parents and Families Association, will include health screenings, free food and samples for all attendees. Flu shots will be available for $20 for non-students and $15 for students; cash, check, MasterCard or Visa will be accepted.
Dawgtoberfest also will include free body fat analysis, diabetes assessments and blood pressure checks. Additionally, students and faculty from health groups across campus will present information on hypertension, asthma, breast cancer, diabetes, fad diets, immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, women’s health topics, pediatric health topics and heartburn.
Dawgtoberfest is open to university students, faculty, staff and the Athens community.
Pharmacy South is located on UGA’s South Campus behind the Snelling Dining Hall and across from Stegeman Coliseum. Parking is located in the South Campus parking deck and Carlton Street parking deck.
