Terry Adamson, executive vice president of the National Geographic Society, is the speaker for the 2009 Mingledorff Lecture in Print Media.
Sponsored by the UGA Libraries, the lecture will be held Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel.
Adamson is responsible for coordinating the international growth of the society, with overall responsibility for international publishing, especially through the publication of local language editions of National Geographic Magazine.
Before joining National Geographic in 1998, Adamson was a partner in the Washington office of a New York-based law firm. He was a senior official of the Department of Justice during the Carter Administration, special assistant to the attorney general of the U.S. from 1977 to 1979, and also chief spokesman of the Department of Justice from 1978-1979.
Huldah Mingledorff-Lorimer created the George Horace Lorimer Center for Print Media and the Mingledorff-Lorimer Lecture in Print Media. Her endowment supports a lecture series, which promotes the George Horace Lorimer Center for Print Media by attracting an audience of researchers, scholars, students and other patrons interested in print media.
